2016 La Belle Promenade Chardonnay

The La Belle Promenade Chardonnay is a unique portrait of the same vineyard each year. By design, it has the most symmetry, balancing the mineral, saline, and lemon-like tones of the rocky sections of the vineyard with just enough of the richness from the decomposed sections of soil. Consequently, the La Belle Promenade Chardonnay consistently reflects the vineyard’s balance year after year.

		Tasting Notes
An aromatic nose and palate with citrus, green apple, honey, almond, mineral and saline like character. Well integrated use of French and Austrian oak adds spice and texture to this complex wine with a lingering finish. While this wine was enjoyable in youth its youth, we are thrilled with the tertiary characteristics this wine has gained with time in bottle.
		Vineyard Notes
La Belle Promenade Vineyard, our treasured estate site in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, spans 40 acres of organically dry-farmed vines planted in 2014. Situated between 700 and 850 feet in elevation, its northeastern and southwestern exposures bring balance and unique character to our wines. The vineyard’s volcanic soils vary between a fractured basalt layer in the southwest and deep Saum soils in the southeast, adding complexity to each harvest. Planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Grüner Veltliner, Gamay Noir, and Aligoté, La Belle Promenade reflects the rich diversity of its terroir, yielding wines with vibrant floral notes, bright acidity, and a hint of the orchard fruits that once flourished here.
