Tasting Notes
An intense, perfumed nose leaps out of the glass with ripe, saturated, black and blueberry fruit character countered with herbal, spice and floral notes. Pronounced flavors abound in the decadent, silky, medium-bodied palate. Sporting blue fruits, sarsaparilla and lifted florals, the long finish ends with a string of fine grained, well integrated tannins.
Ratings
93 Points, Vinous: "Limpid ruby-red. Expressive, spice-tinged cherry and mulberry scents take on hints of woodsmoke, cola and botanical herbs with air. Appealingly sweet and focused on the palate, offering dark berry and cherry cola flavors that slowly firm up through the back half. Shows very good power but comes off lithe and finishes very long and gently chewy, with well-knit tannins and resonating spiciness." -- Josh Raynolds
Vineyard Notes
La Belle Promenade Vineyard, our treasured estate site in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, spans 40 acres of organically dry-farmed vines planted in 2014. Situated between 700 and 850 feet in elevation, its northeastern and southwestern exposures bring balance and unique character to our wines. The vineyard’s volcanic soils vary between a fractured basalt layer in the southwest and deep Saum soils in the southeast, adding complexity to each harvest. Planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Grüner Veltliner, Gamay Noir, and Aligoté, La Belle Promenade reflects the rich diversity of its terroir, yielding wines with vibrant floral notes, bright acidity, and a hint of the orchard fruits that once flourished here.
