Tasting Notes
This three varietal blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay is full of beauty and power. A fine and lacey mousse lifts a bright green apple tartness and zesty tangerine citrus with layers of wet stone minerality. Influence from Pinot Noir that makes up 47% of this cuvée gleans a liveliness that carries into a lengthy finish. Enjoy this wine’s youthful spirit now or check in on its graceful evolution for future special occasions to come.
Ratings
92 Points: "Done in the traditional method, the 2019 Extra Brut is a Pinot Noir-dominated blend along with 28% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Meunier and is a medium yellow/straw color in the glass, with expressive aromas of brioche, fresh flowers, preserved lemon, hazelnut, and white peach. Medium-bodied, it’s spritely and dry on the palate, with a chalky and vibrant spice of acidity, a lively mousse, and notes of white pepper. A very well-styled sparkling, it should hold up over the coming 8-10 years. It saw 5 grams per liter of dosage." (Aug 2024) - Jeb Dunnuck
Vineyard Notes
La Belle Promenade Vineyard, our treasured estate site in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, spans 40 acres of organically dry-farmed vines planted in 2014. Situated between 700 and 850 feet in elevation, its northeastern and southwestern exposures bring balance and unique character to our wines. The vineyard’s volcanic soils vary between a fractured basalt layer in the southwest and deep Saum soils in the southeast, adding complexity to each harvest. Planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Grüner Veltliner, Gamay Noir, and Aligoté, La Belle Promenade reflects the rich diversity of its terroir, yielding wines with vibrant floral notes, bright acidity, and a hint of the orchard fruits that once flourished here.
