Cuvée Constantin is a nod to one of the great Flâneurs. In his essay “The Painter of Modern Life”, Charles Baudelaire writes of a journalist turned street painter, a fixture on the sprawling promenades of Paris: Constantin Guys. As Constantin would wander the streets, searching for inspiration, our Winemaker, Anthony, walks the cellar to put together this cuvée every year.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Showcasing the masterful blending of our Winemakers, the Cuvée Constantin Chardonnay blends the ripe sun soaked blocks of La Belle Promenade with the leaner more mineral driven rows showcasing a balanced yet bold cuvée that is deeply textured. Aroma and flavors mirror one another and sing of yellow apple, Meyer lemon, a golden kiss of candle wax, honey, and graham cracker with a touch of French and Austrian oak for richness.
Ratings
93 Points, International Wine Report | "A light lemon-gold core with a silvery rim presents nicely in the glass on the 2021 Constantine Chardonnay that is fermented in 25% new French and Austrian oak. A stunning nose of crushed volcanic rock, sweet spice, Meyer lemon curd, and marzipan play well together. The palate is more earthy and saline, with flavors of white wildflowers, sea breeze, and a hint of iron that hits the front palate. It ends with a long, textured finish. 386 cases were produced." - Jeremy Young
Vineyard Notes
La Belle Promenade Vineyard, our treasured estate site in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, spans 40 acres of organically dry-farmed vines planted in 2014. Situated between 700 and 850 feet in elevation, its northeastern and southwestern exposures bring balance and unique character to our wines. The vineyard’s volcanic soils vary between a fractured basalt layer in the southwest and deep Saum soils in the southeast, adding complexity to each harvest. Planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Grüner Veltliner, Gamay Noir, and Aligoté, La Belle Promenade reflects the rich diversity of its terroir, yielding wines with vibrant floral notes, bright acidity, and a hint of the orchard fruits that once flourished here.
