Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Pleasing aromas of cranberry and red plum skin are complemented by clove and sandalwood. Flavors mirror the inviting aromas with festive orange zest and holiday baking spices. Texturally this wine is luxurious and plush with integrated tannins and bright acidity making it worth indulging in now for a beautifully fresh expression of Flânerie Vineyard. The lengthy finish is carried by fresh ribbons of the wines’ high toned fruits and spices.
Ratings
95 Points, International Wine Report - May 2024 | "Another wonderful Pinot Noir from the winemaking team at Flaneur, this time the 2021 Esprit De Corps. Resting in 33% new French oak during aging, it gifts lovely sweet baking spice, fennel fronds, and earthy tones to start. Eventually, it opens up to black cherries, boysenberries, and just a hint of orange zest notes on the palate. Tannins are rounded and integrated into a racy spine of acidity. 228 cases produced. 2024-2032" - Jeremy Young
Vineyard Notes
Flânerie Vineyard was established in 2003. The 10-acre site sits at 250’–350’ in elevation on the eastern slope of the Ribbon Ridge AVA. The east-to-west orientation of its rows maximizes sun exposure, promoting greater tannin structure in an already warmer microclimate. Despite this warmth, the site retains impressive acidity. Combined with its sedimentary soils, the terroir produces spicy and savory wines with structure, light red fruit character, and age-worthy potential. This site is dry farmed in house using organic farming practices.
